Parade Classes

Get creative and learn new skills at special classes for adults and teens led by our team of professional artists. You’ll have a chance to show off your creations or performance on the day of the parade and at the grand finale in Calder Holmes Park. No previous skills required.


Samba Drumming with Handmade Samba

Get your groove on! Join the year-round Handmade Samba Band as they prepare for the big event. All levels welcome.

For ages 13+; £3 a session

 Stilting with Andrew Kim and Mya Kungu

  • Dates and times to be confirmed
Do something amazing…learn to walk and dance on stilts. We will be training adults and children (age 10 and up) to stilt walk and make costumes for the parade.

For ages 10+; four sessions plus parade route rehearsal

Women’s Parade Dance Ensemble with Gil Burns

Women and girls aged 8-88 can learn a fun and easy dance routine with dancer Gil Burns that they will perform in the parade, accompanied by The Handmade Samba Band

You will also need to come to the open workshops to make your costume.

No need to book, just turn up to the sessions wearing loose clothing and trainers/comfy footwear
