2D BACKGROUND ARTWORK
What will I be doing?
.You’ll be making a picture which will be used as a background in one of the scenes in the film, using pens, paint or collage, and your imagination! We want either
- Sky – a daytime, an early morning or a sunset sky.
- Sea
- Under the sea – fish, seaweed, shells, crab, jellyfish, any creature you might find in British seas! Make it at least A5 sized, please
- Countryside – hills, fields, or woodlands.
Look at our visual resources on Pinterest to find out which colours to use get inspired and then produce your own scene at home
Send us a good photo or a scan before the deadline if you’d like your work to be included in the final film
We’ve also set up a Pinterest board with some brilliant images and making ideas, the link is just below. Also, PLEASE join our private Facebook group for news and updates, a chance to chat to us and other participants, and a place to share your work in progress, we’d really love to see it.
Who is this suitable for?
This activity is suitable for all abilities, but young children might need some help with the tricky bits if you make a 3D model.
How long will it take?
Just a headpiece will probably take at least a couple of hours. In our parade workshop most people finish their costume in 4-6 hours, but some spend weeks perfecting them! Don’t forget to allow time to make and submit your video before the deadline.
What materials/Equipment will I need?
All this is in the instructions, but it’s likely to be things you have in the house already, or are easy to get hold of.
Is there a maximum number of participants for this section?
No, there is no maximum limit, if you’d like to be included in the film just make sure you send us photos or video of your work before the deadline.
When and how do I have to submit photos/video?
1st October
Please upload your work here, email your photo or scan to sandra@handmadeparade.co.uk, or post it to us (it would be lovely to get actual artwork in the post!) at
Handmade Parade, Unit 5, Victoria Works, Victoria Road, Hebden Bridge,W. Yorkshire, HX7 8LN.
If you need to talk to an actual real live person about this project outside of Facebook, please email sandra@handmadeparade.co.uk and she can help.
